Happy Birthday Grammy!

Clint's mother, who we all call Grammy, has a birthday tomorrow- April 24th. Clint's sisters and I planned a suprise birthday party for her at the Gristmill monday afternoon. She had NO idea what was going on, I'm lucky I got her there in time. When I went to pick her up, she had to show me her entire garden she just had landscaped. All I could do was go along with it and not act rushed. But we got to the restaraunt in time with all her best friends there to celebrate. We all felt so guilty, I must have told her atleast 80 lies that morning! She is so special to me and I love her as my own. The party turned out great and she was certainly surprised! Here are some pictures:

Nursery Couture

I've found a bedding set I absolutely love! I searched one morning for hours trying to find something cute but manly enough for Clint's approval. It's has a blend of toile, hounds tooth, gingham check, embroidery and velvets in shades of "glacier" and "sand"... but it's not girly like most of the delicate sets I've come across. According to the website, the definition of the look is "cottage chic elegance". Clint actually likes it and I'm hoping we can somehow register for it for as a baby shower gift. It can only be purchased online- which makes me a little nervous. Decorating the baby's room is probably the biggest excitement for me since I love fashion. I am so anxious to get everything ready, I worry it won't get finished in time since I'm working; my mom had to talk me out of buying everything myself including the furniture so it would get here sooner. I plan on making the majority of the nursey myself (which will hopefully keep me preoccupied). Here's a picture of everything, it's called Central Park by Glenna Jean.

20 Weeks, 1 Day

Well, we made it! I woke up this morning and just felt peaceful about being in the SECOND half of my pregnancy and about being less than 20 weeks away until we get to see little Wes. The official due date is September 5. Of course, anytime before then is welcome, the last time we went to see him, the sono tech moved the date up to late August based on his measurments.

I think the coolest thing that is happening is that I feel the baby move. I was laying in bed the other night and before it started and I felt two little twingy-like thumps really low in my abdomen. I thought, that was weird. Then it hit me - maybe that was the baby moving! I couldn’t be sure, so I didn’t jump to any conclusions, because they say that in your first pregnancy, you usually don’t notice movement until closer to 16-20 weeks. Technically, they say you can feel it as early as 12 weeks if you know what you’re looking for, I was right at 18.5 weeks, so I wasn’t really expecting it. So anyway, I kept concentrating on feeling anything, and I didn’t for the rest of the night or next day.

BUT THEN! The next night as I was trying to fall asleep, and I felt the SAME thing, only it was a bunch of little thumps. They say it should feel like “butterflies,” “bubbles,” or “flutters,” but to be honest, I’d describe mine more like popcorn popping.

I could just picture the little guy there just punching and kicking away. I figured it was one of two extremes. he was either in there having a good ol’ time and dancing up a storm…or maybe he was lashing out in anger, performing high kicks and right jabs while saying, “Hey! MOM! When in the heck am I going to get out of this place?!? It’s dark! And boring! Are you even listening to me?!?”

Every once in a while I’ll feel a faint little movement, almost like the baby is rolling, but it’s usually when I’m lying on my back in bed or driving and really paying attention.

It will be nice when I feel it more frequently and when it’s more noticeable without me having to really concentrate on whether I am feeling anything.

Proof!

Here’s the proof that little Weston is, in fact, a boy! If you’re having trouble figuring out what you’re looking at, the picture is taken like he is sitting on the camera with his legs stretched out. Just a warning... after posting this I realized how obsene it looked!

The second one is my favorite, this is of his profile... I think he looks so much like Clint already! (how cute):

Baby Boy!

We’re having a BOY!!! We couldn’t be more excited. We got to find out this morning, which was so great! We are so glad to know! Clint is on cloud nine and hasn’t hit the ground yet!!! The sono technician put the machine on my belly, and there he was. He was not shy at ALL. Everyone could tell exactly what he was before she even told us. She started laughing and said, “Well, there’s no doubt about it that he’s a boy!” Of course, Clint couldn’t be prouder. I also think that Weston might have Clint's build. And his profile already looks like Clints. We’re naming him Weston John, after Clints Dad. And Cindy, Clint's mom, picked the name. We just love it! It’s so much fun now to picture him, call him by name and start planning. I already have an idea of what his nursery will look like. I’ll put a picture of the sonogram up as soon as I can get to a scanner. It’s been a very eventful, but GREAT way to start the week. Oh, what a week can bring!
