So tonight is going to be Weston's FIRST night in his own bedroom. He has been sleeping in our room ever since we came home from the hospital. The cradle (in our room) was supposed to be big enough for a 6 month old but apparently they don't accomodate big babies. The past few weeks I would wake up and either a leg or an arm would be stuck in a slat so we thought it was time. Although I know Weston will eventually sleep much more sound in the crib, I have a feeling I will be sleeping on his floor tonight... he has already woken up twice and it's only 8pm :(

4 Month update

Weston went to his 4 month check up Monday and it was all good news once again! Dr. Albrecht is so sweet, I think he has a special bond with Weston since he was his last baby to deliver (he gave up his license and is now strictly family practice). He said Wes is waaay ahead for his age (he's probably going to be ridiculously smart!). Joking aside, he can already hold his head on his own, can turn from front to back and vise verse, can ALMOST sit on his own, makes great eye contact, and can talk up a storm. He now weighs 17.2 lbs and is 26 inches long (85% in his age grp). Just to give you some kind of reference, our friends baby (although she is petite for her age) just turned one and weighs 19 lbs. BUT, he IS a boy too so that does make a bit of a difference. Then there's the fact that we breed on the intent of raising the next Earl Campbell or Barry Sanders.

Weston also got his shots this week. Speaking of shots, they are one of my big worries for little Wes. There are a million different ways to do them (timing, grouping etc.) and every way has it's pros and con's but we decided not to delay them. Yes, it can cause Autism but the odds are against us and it hasn't even been proven completely that the two are linked together. The thing that scared me the most, I think, was the rising number of infant disease and death due to an increasing number of families delaying vaccines.

What else is new... oh yes! Weston is sleeping until 8:00 am!!! He still wakes up at 5, but if I nurse him and put him into bed with me then I can get another 3 hours out of him. This makes a HUGE difference for mommas sanity :)

The Holidays

Weston has grown so much and is learning all kinds of new things. But first off, here are a few pictures from the holidays to catch you up.
This was taken over Thanksgiving at my Memaw's ranch. We had hoped to use them for Christmas cards but Weston didn't like any of his poses so we used a baptism one instead (which never got sent out, long story.)

I still get a little emotional when I see Clint with his son. Clint is such a wonderful dad and loves our little boy SOOO much. Weston loves him like crazy too. I wish you could see his face and hear the happy noises he makes every time he sees him! We have waited for what feels like forever to start a family and now that we have it's just surreal.

10 weeks old!

Here are the latest silly little faces Weston is making. When he smiles, he curls his upper lip and coo's- it melts my heart! Everyday day he does something new and it makes me fall in love with him all over again.

He isn't a big fan of tummy time so I surround him with toys to distract him. It works for about 10 minutes then he realizes he doesn't like it.

He LOVES this bouncy seat! It's the cheapest thing I own ($25!). Take note, he has nothing to do with his luxury Graco sweat pea newborn soothing center with motion, touch, sound, site and scent features :/ Anyways, It vibrates and has these little toys dangling from them. I think he thinks that if he stares at the toys hard enough they will move on their own. We haven't learned how to hit them yet, but we're working on it, haha.

The sweetest smile I love, this is what I wake up to every morning.

What a week! We were thrilled because My sister and her family came in town to visit. The three of us sisters woke up early Saturday morning ready to shop. Each with a baby in hand, we found ourselves sitting in the Target dressing room floor catching up. No matter where we are, we always find somewhere to lounge and visit, haha.

Later that day, we went to our friends Nate and Bridgett's house to celebrate their son's 3rd birthday. Chance is really into John Deer Tractors right now so everything from napkins to presents were tractor themed. He was so excited when he walked into the garage and saw his first motorized car.

2 month check-up

We went to our two-month checkup Monday and it was all good news! Weston is a happy healthy baby :)

…and speaking of healthy. Yes, he is eating WELL! Here are the latest stats:

Weight: 13 lbs. 11 oz.
Length: 23 3/4 inches

The Dr. said it's obvious he's breastfeeding, he's just exploding! He said he’s very healthy and is in the 90th percentile in both height and weight. He’s not too chubbs though since he’s growing a lot in length too; it’s proportional.

He also got his shots ( DTaP, Hib, Polio (IPV), Pneumoccoal (PCV), Rotavirus). I am kind of on the fence with Wes getting a lot of shots at once since they have been linked to Autism. I've been reading a lot about Dr. Bocks methods. He is a DAN doctor. He is not anti-vaccination but has a delayed schedule that I like quite a bit. I will probably delay his MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) shots since these are the 3 that are most likely linked to Autism.

Dr. Albrecht was asking about milestones for two month old and asked if he was smiling and cooing. I said, “oh yeah.” A minute later, he laid him on the table to check his stuffy nose and, sure enough, Weston smiled really big and cooed at him the whole time. Such a happy little guy. It made me feel good when he said, “You’re doing a really great job with him.” before he left the room.

...and we're sleeping! The past few nights, Weston has slept 6-7.5 hour stretches. I think we’ve turned the leaf! Woo hoo! He usually goes to bed around 7:30 which is nice because Clint and I can have some alone time (I can't wait for it, actually!). He'll usually wake up around 3ish to nurse and then he'll sleep until 6 or so.

WOW.

I think Senator Orin Hatch said it best last night when he told a reporter (just before it was confirmed Obama would be our president), "I like Senator Obama. I think he's charismatic and articulate....but he's also very young and very inexperienced and that worries me a little." I'll admit, that worries me a lot. And according to polls last night, it also worries 42% of Americans. All I can do now is hope the best for him as our President. I usually don't talk about political stuff (even though I have a strong opinion about who I'd like as President) but I couldn't stop thinking about this last night. Athough I'm not happy about the results, thank goodness this election is over! I'm so sick of hearing about change and policy's I don't agree with. Things are about to get interesting in the White House, and like I said...I truly hope the best for him and the decisions he makes for our Country.

Happy Halloween!

Grammy Cindy and Memaw bought these cute pumpkin outfits for Weston. I thought they would be WAY too big for him but he has grown a ton and they fit! He is seriously getting so tall none of the NB clothes fit anymore. The 0-3 barely fit and 3-6 are still a little big but I love that he can almost start wearing more of these cute outfits we have for him! I went in and weighed him in the doctor's office. At his 2 week appt he weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz. When I went in last Saturday (about 7 1/2 weeks old) and he weighed 13 lbs 10 oz! That seemed like a lot of weight for him to gain in 5 weeks. I love that he is getting chubby now and has the cute double chin and chubby legs, however I don't think my back is liking it quite as much! :) Clint went to the Ranch last night so my mom and I got to stay home and pass out candy with Weston. This is the first year we stayed home, and I thought it was so much fun to see all the cute little kids and their costumes! Some parents are just so creative, I love it!

Haha! I had to put these up, I'm not sure if these were taken on Halloween or not but as you can see... most of our costumes were an invention from our imagination.
